Sedgebear's Birthday!

Last week Reception Class received a letter from Sedgebear inviting them to a Teddy Bears' Picnic to celebrate his birthday. The children then wrote him a letter back to tell him that they would like to attend and to ask him if they needed to bring anything to the picnic. Sedgebear wrote another letter back to the children, thanking them for their lovely letters and asking them to invite their own teddy bears along to the picnic. The children then had a go at writing an invitation for their teddy bears.

Today is Sedgebear's birthday and we have been busy making birthday cards for Sedgebear and making sandwiches for the picnic. We made lots of jam sandwiches because Sedgebear told us that they are his favourite! This afternoon we went to the teddy bears picnic and we all had a lovely time celebrating Sedgebear's birthday! Mrs B even came along to the picnic with her teddy bear! Sedgebear told us at the end of the day that he had a wonderful time at his picnic : )

We're Going on a Bear Hunt

This week Miss Houlihan was really excited to share her most favourite story 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. We have been busy retelling the story using actions and instruments and even acting out the story using the stick puppets and role-play masks we have made. We have also made story maps and written labels next to our pictures. Please take a look at some of the things we have been up to!

World Book Day 2015

We have had a fantastic day celebrating World Book Day! We have really enjoyed dressing up as our favourite book characters and doing some lovely activities focused on the story 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. Please take a look below at some of the different book characters in Reception Class.

Toys and Teddies

This half term our new topic is called 'Toys and Teddies'. We have converted the role-play area into a toy shop, so we have been busy writing shopping lists and writing price labels for the toys. Our literacy has been focused around the story 'Dogger' and in maths we have been recognising coins.
