9th - 13th June 2014

It has been a very busy week in Reception class! Starting off at the beginning of the week we were printing flowers on tiles for our school tile mural. In literacy we listened to the Julia Donaldson story 'What the Ladybird Heard' and made wanted posters for the naughty thieves Lanky Len and Hefty Hugh. We were also finding number bonds to 10 in mathematics and learning about the different parts of a plant. On Friday we had our street party to celebrate all of our fantastic achievements this year! Growing and Minibeasts

This week we have started our new topic "Growing and Minibeasts". In literacy we learnt the story "Jack and the Beanstalk" and wrote letters to the Giant (from Jack) to say sorry for stealing his money, hen and harp. In mathematics we were measuring the height of different objects and made our own beanstalks to see who could make the "tallest" one. We also started learning about doubling numbers and we used beans to help us complete our number sentences. This week we have also been learning about the life cycle of a bean plant and even planted our own beans. Please take a look at the photos below!
