The Gingerbread Man

This week we learnt the story `The Gingerbread Man`. On Monday we listened to the story and decided that we would like to make some gingerbread. So we spent the morning writing shopping lists for Miss Houlihan. On Tuesday we were busy baking gingerbread, making role-play masks and acting out the story. We took our gingerbread cookies home to eat and they were delicious! The next day we looked at the photos of us baking gingerbread and talked about the recipe. We then put the photos of us baking the gingerbread into the right order and were busy designing our own Gingerbread Men. In maths we even used the Gingerbread Man to help us think of different ways of making 5 (numberbonds to 5)!

Fairy Tales

Our new topic this term is 'Fairy Tales' and this week we have been learning the story 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff'. We have been busy sequencing the story and retelling the story using props in our small world and role-play areas. We have also been learning about bridges and building our own bridges for the Billy Goats to cross. We used lots of different resources to build our bridges and after we built them we tested them to see if they were strong enough to hold the Billy Goats.

Retelling the story in the small world area

Working together to build a bridge using duplo

This bridge was strong enough to hold 4 goats!
