Fairy Tales

This week we have started our new topic "Fairy Tales" and the first story we have looked at is "The Three Billy Goats Gruff". We have been busy retelling the story using props and masks and we have also been building bridges for the Three Billy Goats to cross. We used many different materials to build our bridges and then we tested them to see if they were strong enough to hold the goats.

Can you guess who this is?

Pirates and Mermaids

Today we have come to school dressed up as pirates and mermaids and have been doing lots of fun pirate and mermaid themed activities. We have all made a pirate ship pizza, yum yum! We have also been making pirate hats, eye patches and we performed our pirate dance. Then to finish off our fun-packed day we watched "The Pirates" dvd.

Pirate Ships

This week we have been busy designing and making pirate ships. We have also been investigating which materials are waterproof. Take a look below at our fantastic pirate ships!

First we predicted which materials are waterproof

We then poured water over the material to see if it was waterproof.
Do you think cellophane is waterproof?
We used recycled junk to make our pirate ships

Some of the finished pirate ships

We then put our pirate ships into the water tray to see if they were waterproof.
Luckily they all floated!

Shape Detectives

This week we have been learning about 2D shapes. We have learnt that shapes are all around us, so we have become shape detectives. Can you recognise any 2D shapes that we found on our shape hunt? Have a look below to find out.
