Cotswold Farm Park

As part of our topic on 'Animals' we have been learning about farm animals and for our school trip we visited Cotswold Farm Park. We had a really good day, even though it rained all afternoon! We did lots of different activities like going on a tractor ride, feeding animals, watching sheep shearing and finding clues to make our way out of the Lion's Maze! We also learnt about different baby animals that live on a farm and we even got to hold chicks and ducklings!

We saw lots of animals on the trailer ride

Do you know what a baby duck is called?

Our topic this term is animals and we have been lucky to have lots of pet visitors in Recption Class! Take a look below at the animals that have visited us!

This is Jane. She is a guide dog puppy and she is being trained at the moment by Coral. Jane was really well behaved and enjoyed meeting us!

These are Digby and Barnaby's guinea pigs. They are really fluffy!

Emile and his Mummy brought in their tortoises to show us.
Harry and his Mum brought in their pet cat Boots for us to meet.

This is Miss Houlihan's puppy Lola. She was very excited to meet us!

The Gingerbread Man

This week we learnt the story `The Gingerbread Man`. On Monday we listened to the story and decided that we would like to make some gingerbread. So we spent the morning writing shopping lists for Miss Houlihan. On Tuesday we were busy baking gingerbread, making role-play masks and acting out the story. We took our gingerbread cookies home to eat and they were delicious! The next day we looked at the photos of us baking gingerbread and talked about the recipe. We then put the photos of us baking the gingerbread into the right order and were busy designing our own Gingerbread Men. In maths we even used the Gingerbread Man to help us think of different ways of making 5 (numberbonds to 5)!
